In his fable, Jean de La Fontaine states the moral right at the beginning: “He who wants to have everything may lose everything.” Originally, in older tales, the moral often came at the end. He chose to reveal it straight away, so the reader would understand from the start what he wanted to convey. It’s one of La Fontaine’s signature traits.
